FIREFLY requires a Full Time Resource Teacher in our Child Care program.
The Resource Teacher is responsible for delivering services to children with special needs and their families in accordance with the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014. The Resource Teacher works with the parents of children with special needs and with other professionals who may be supporting the child. The Resource Teacher observes and screens each child enrolled in the full day Child Care program and makes appropriate referrals as necessary. Based on the observations and assessments, the Resource Teacher will prepare and facilitate implementation of Individual Program Plans (IPP) and Individual Teaching Plans (ITP) for children identified as having special needs while ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and FIRELFY policies.
The Resource Teacher will work as a team member to provide support and resources for all children enrolled and staff working within the program.
Early Childhood Education Diploma with Resource Teacher qualifications
Membership in the College of Early Childhood Education
Flexibility and the ability to work with a wide variety of ages
Current infant and toddler First Aid and CPR
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work under physically and emotionally demanding conditions
Good interpersonal skills in dealing with colleagues, children and families
Demonstrated competency of the culture(s) of the clients being served is an asset
Fluency in French would be an asset
