FIREFLY is seeking two (2) full time Physiotherapists.  Reporting to the Clinical Manager, the Physiotherapist will provide assessment, development and implementation of treatment programs for clients referred to FIREFLY.  You will be required to develop and implement treatment plans based on initial and ongoing assessments while acting as a resource for families, other FIREFLY staff and community agencies.  You will liaise with the Rehabilitation Service multi-disciplinary team to provide program coordination.  Travel within the Kenora/Rainy River district and First Nations Communities will be required.  Physiotherapists have access to a mentor within the Agency.  Candidates may select to reside and work from either the Kenora, Sioux Lookout or Dryden locations.


Key Job Functions:

  • Provide assessment of children referred through Intake on the basis of developmental delays, specifically motor related delays
  • Develop and implement treatment plans based on initial and ongoing assessments. Review and modify programming as needed
  • Maintain documentation as per college guidelines and FIREFLY policies and procedures
  • Provide information to help facilitate understanding and access to the assistive devices program and other funding initiatives for special equipment
  • Work collaboratively with community based service providers and agencies to meet identified needs and enhance delivery of care
  • Extensive travel required


Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Physiotherapy
  • Registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
  • Previous experience in a pediatric setting with a sound knowledge of normal/abnormal child development
  • Experience with children and adults who have multiple needs is an asset
  • Assistive Devices Program (ADP) Authorizer status for mobility devices or experience with seating and mobility devices is an asset.
  • Ability to use a wide range of assessment tools for children and youth
  • Ability to work creatively with clients in both individual and in group settings, in the Centre, in the home and school settings
  • Sensitivity to the needs of parents/caregivers and the ability to support and involve them in programming
  • Computer literate with experience in electronic client file entry
  • Valid driver’s license
